What is Trek Training?
Trek training is an outdoor adventure fitness program designed to get women walking in nature. Each program connects you with nature, develops your fitness and prepares your body for amazing trekking adventures.
Increase your fitness and endurance by challenging yourself to get out and enjoy a weekly adventure in nature.
Each session provides you with the opportunity to train with a small group of like-minded amazing women. Each group is lead by an amazing coach who is a certified personal trainer. Trek train in nature on local trails around Vancouver.
What session is best for me?
West Women Trekkers Inc. has two different types of sessions available based on your fitness and hiking experience. Trek Start (2 hour session) is ideal for beginners, and Trek Training (3 hour session) for women with medium fitness base. Please contact our client service manager at 604-715-6758 to determine which would be the best group for you to join.
How do I get started?
To get started, complete the Book Now form and submit online. When received, the Client Service Manager will contact you to confirm the best session for you and provide next steps. Please refer to the Terms and Conditions page for further information.
How fit do I need to be?
As a guide:
Trek Start – you can walk at a moderate pace (4 km/hour) for 60 minutes
Trek Training – you can walk at a moderate pace (4km/hour) for 90 minutes
To become a Member, you will need to complete a Client Information Package, when submitted you will be contacted by the Client Services Manager. This information and further discussion will provide us with an understanding of your current fitness level. The Client Services Manager will provide a program recommendation based on this information.
For your first sessions, we would encourage you to only carry a small daypack with water and snack. You need to build an endurance level and meet specific training criteria, if you choose to carry a full pack.
How do I purchase trek training?

How does a 10 program pack work?
The 10 pack gives you 10 session credits which need to be used within 12 calendar weeks from the date of first session. You may attend more than 1 session a week if you choose. When you use your sessions, you will need to purchase a new pack. If you need to cancel a session, please remember to do so 24 hours before or you will be charged.
What if I cannot make a training session?
You need to cancel the session prior to 24 hours prior, otherwise you will be charged. If you miss a session, you have the option to join another session within the same week.
What if it is raining? What if it is cold?
The Coach will meet you at the designated meet up location and adjust session if required, to accommodate for weather. Session may be rescheduled or cancelled due to weather events, due to wind or weather warnings.
Expect the unexpected, this provides a great opportunity to test gear and challenge yourself!
What should I wear for trek training?
Please wear comfortable hiking boots or trail shoes. Remember to bring a day pack, water, snack, rain coat, towel or yoga mat.
For training – please dress in appropriate training gear based on weather conditions and the seasons. Remember to layer up in cooler months. Gloves may be beneficial in cooler months.
A head torch is mandatory for night sessions. It is a good idea to carry one in case of an emergency, even when walking on trails during day-light hours.
Trekking poles are recommended for endurance treks and members carrying heavy packs.
